Depression Is Not An Illness

Depression is not an illness, and it’s also not an identity.

When people feel the emotional state of depression they often feel out of control or that the feeling has become who they are. This is not the case.

When dealing with the feelings of depression, learning some specific skills and techniques will help you re-establish the feelings of control of your life and give you a positive outlook in restoring your true identity.

Some of the tools and skills I teach my clients for getting rid of their depressed state:

  • Learning how to address your life questions more clearly and cleanly.
  • Learning how to make better decisions.
  • Learning how to redefine your expectations for yourself and your life.
  • Learning some techniques like anchoring, EFT, mindfulness meditation, and self-hypnosis

The above skills and learnings are valuable in helping you make some real positive changes in your life.

As stated above, depression isn’t an illness, and it can be a valuable sign that something is wrong. It is a wake-up call to examine a bit more closely what many overlook and aren’t aware of; that their expectations, thoughts, feelings, relationships, and all other things you experience can cause you to slowly, and sometimes rapidly, drift off course and have you to falsely believe you will never be happy or have a fulfilling life.

The good news is that doesn’t have to be your reality.

Good therapy, coaching, and counseling for depression can work. It can work reliably and surprisingly quickly.

That means finding the right coach, counselor, or therapist to help you learn to be the catalyst for your own personal growth and development in order to break the grip of depression in your life.

After 30+ years ministering to others, I have come to the beliefs that the main issues with most people who are feeling depressed are that they feel, think, and act out of a perspective that’s distorted and detrimental to their well being, then they make the mistake of actually believing that perspective is a rock-solid truth.

Depression is a habit. Habits can be unlearned. It’s an emotional state. Emotional states are temporary. If you are finding yourself in this state and want some tools that can help you, I can help.
